Re: 'The Hop' Branding Rollout

Seven years on & this expensive & pointless rebranding exercise still hasn't been completed. Unbelievable!

Basically yes although Sydney is more complicated because it has a graduated fare system which requires a touch on & touch off for all trips.

Re: No cash

If it is "temporary", it is likely to be around for a while. Once they have passengers in the habit of using cards only, why would they revert to cash? Sydney has been coping quite well for a while now. You have to remember that Sydney accepts contactless cards for payment while Adelaide only has M...

Re: No cash

I would hope that commonsense prevails & drivers have been instructed to allow a few days grace to passengers who may be unaware of this change being introduced at such short notice. Drivers are not paid to get into arguments or fights with passengers although if Adelaide is anything like Melbourne ...

Reduced no. of carriages on trains? What, one carriage instead of two? Most Adelaide trains can't get much smaller!

Re: Introducing OPAL Card

I often find cards just abandoned around stations with a couple of dollars on them. I wonder if the AirportLink operator gets full reimbursement from TfNSW/Opal for the shortages in gate fees? There are no shortages in gate fees now as you cannot get through the barriers at the Airport station if y...

Re: Proposed Chadstone to Moorabbin bus route

Chadstone's bus interchange is still infinitely better than Eastland's, which consists of nothing more than a plain old bus stop sign with no shelter (742). Three other buses (271, 370 and 380 clockwise) used to stop behind the 742 in Ringwood Street but the bus stops were removed; the yellow "X" f...

Re: Proposed Chadstone to Moorabbin bus route

I had my first chance to try out the 627 today. My first trip was on the 12.13pm from Moorabbin which arrived slightly late, dropped off 3 passengers & left with just me on board. On the way we picked up 7 passengers on the previously unserved roads & another 4 on Murrumbeena Road who could have use...

Re: Removal of two section tickets and other fare changes 7

I personally think we're talking to a wall in this regard. But wouldn't the travel time be evened out by eliminating paper ticket sales on some services? Sydney does this, but it doesn't sound tourist friendly. It is ridiculous to be told I can't travel on a bus due to not having an 'Opal' card. An...

Re: Removal of two section tickets and other fare changes 7

If Adelaide had a system similar to Sydney where one taps off upon alighting, then it would be easier to implement the appropriate fare. Personally, I feel like I'm being ripped off paying the full concession fare for a trip that is less than 10kms. But the DPTI only cares about money, hence the ma...

AERIAL orbital transport here by 2030 by PaxInfo » Mon Apr 01, 2019 4:34 am We all love the concept of the Suburban Rail Loop. It introduces something sorely missed - high quality orbital transport. There is a very large redevelopment taking place on the south east corner of East Boundary and North Roads - including the old Casey's Coaches depot. Re: New PTV website

It is a shame that what I thought was a good website has been dumbed down to suit mobile phone users who probably just want to know how to get from A to B & what time their next service is. The downloadable PDF timetables are ridiculous. Because every individual stop on a route is shown you end up w...

Re: Introducing OPAL Card

Here's hoping they will align smart cards with Opal card off-peak fare deductions and offer further discounts from time to time. You mean to implement the Opal fare table in 'contactless' just like London does? It's London's software we are using, so it can do it. The take-up of 'contactless' in Lo...
