Re: CDC NSW Fleet Updates

m/o 8208, CC CB30 MAN 12.220 has made it's way down to Queanbeyan, and has been re-reged as 7552MO, and repainted in the QCity Transit livery.

Re: [DT] Western Sydney Light Rail

Changing modes will change travel patterns, simple as that.....and not for the better. People despise it, unless it is easy and seamless, and I am yet to see an example of an easy and seamless mode change in Sydney, our largest interchanges seem like a labyrinth of stairs, lifts and barriers, which ...

Re: [DT] Western Sydney Light Rail

The only thing the Carlingford Line reservation should be used for is a heavy rail service. Providing a secondary link between the two largest employment centres outside of the CBD, being Parramatta and Chatswood is absolutely essential for sustainable transport growth in Sydney. By routing this tra...

Interstate Coaches seen in Canberra + XPT in the sticks

Not even the sun wants to hang around Canberra. Been a bit dull and miserable lately, but I still managed to get these shots over the past few days; http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h175/RJT-RR-GR/DSC_0035e_zpsa22b7722.jpg Bensleys of Braidwood of Queanbeyan have TV-6452, a Denning Landseer still i...

Re: CDC NSW Fleet Updates

AFAIK, a Toronto liveried MAN with a PMC 160 body has been spied in the Queanbeyan yard, so either 4372MO, or 4401MO has made the move to CDC Deanes. Cannot 100% confirm this though.

Re: [USA] Photos from my Travels - SLC/NY/Chicago

Actually Manhattan is well served by Uptown/Downtown and Crosstown routes. This the Manhattan bus map. http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/manbus.pdf The last tour bus is actually a single decker with a specially made upper deck only. I believe it is made by Orion. Yeah, true, one notable service is the ...

[USA] Photos from my Travels - SLC/NY/Chicago

Following on from my shots in LA, here are a couple from Salt Lake City, which was one of the most beautiful and well kept cities I visited whilst over in the US. Did you have any problems taking bus photos in Los Angeles? Paul in Melbourne Not in L.A., but I did in Chicago, of all places. The Metro subway transit police were quite 'gestapo' IMHO, having a go at me for eating on the subway platform. Oops. W/Disney Concert Hall: That's a building?? Last photo...

[USA] Photos from my Travels - LA

I travelled over to the States approx 4 months ago, and haven't downloaded the images off my camera until recently. Here are a couple of snaps I took whilst over there, although, I didn't take as many photos as I would have like to, purely because of the different level of security (and paranoia) th...

m/o/ 7588, Volvo B10M MkI from Bonnyrigg sighted operating a Deanes Queanbeyan school service this afternoon. The driver was of Indian descent in plain clothes, which may imply he has brought the bus down to Queanbeyan, and is operating it for CDC Deanes.

How about improving the image of the vehicles first? It's all good and well for staff to look clean cut and professional, but when the carriage has scratched windows, slashed or missing seats or is graffitied (heavily), the image of the staff is quickly forgotten. I feel these measures are somewhat ...

Re: CDC Toronto ADL Enviro 200 demo

The driver seems to be perched quite high, and those mirrors are very small. Other than that, it's a good looking bus, and I hope Alexander-Dennis manage to sell a few of these units around here.

I'm assuming this one is a demo? (If so, Carbridge will probably end up with this one, heh!)

Re: Youth Parliament - Transport/Infrastructure Bill

Following trials, bicycle racks would be installed on the front of buses after the Opal Card Roll-Out in 2014, progressively across the STA fleet upon refurbishment. From what I've seen in regards to bike racks, they pose a huge risk to all involved, and the pros and cons must be weighed up. Whilst...

Perhaps my comments were poorly worded. The win for the passengers is the clear and concise desto, which is easier to read, when compared to Veolia destos.

Yes, really good idea. Nothing like making passengers confused just to satisfy a couple of operational people. WTF is route 7704 or 2B403 supposed to mean?? The small numbers might be better, but are they really necessary??. A bit of paper in the windscreen would do the same job. There is th...

Those Punchbowl Destos are great. Clever way to have both the route, and shift number on destos. I hope other operators cotton on to this format.

Having an informal chat to the CEO yesterday, no more new buses this financial year. Any thing new will depend on the State budget. Tender for the next generation of buses has yet to go out. That's interesting to hear, as AFAIK, the 'Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992' requires 55% acc...

Re: Cheap fares for New Years Eve

After taking a look at the timetable, I've got to say I'm very impressed with Metro. All those additional services, and the $2 fares is an excellent way to actively encourage people to take the bus instead of driving. And there must be a lot of extra shifts operating on NYE/NYD, would finding driver...
