Forget electrification, just order new sparks as Bi-Modes Run on diesel Traralgon-Pakenham & Sunbury-Bendigo Problem is, the UK ones are: Designed for AC 25kV so would require modification for 1500V DC. If UK EMUs on the Southern region are any guide, they would be potentially be speed limited ...

Re: Sandringham enhanced timetable
That suggestion isn't without merit. Alternatively, you just run really long V/Line trains with the expectation that many people will get off at Dandenong and Pakenham. Either way, the objective is to increase the value of each train path through the suburban network. Electrification of the Traralg...

Re: Sandringham enhanced timetable
How about this idea: Werribee and Williamstown via Flinders Street to Frankston Sandringham via Flinders Street to Upfield Are we are talking about a scenario where Melbourne Metro didn't go ahead? Well in an environment without Melbourne Metro then you've just massively reduced the capacity of the...

Re: Sandringham enhanced timetable
Well in one way, you are correct. In another more important way, you are unfortunately not. You could run Werribee and Williamstown to a combination of Frankston and Sandringham (and vice versa), but then then means you are mixing the lines even more. By doing that you're going to reduce capacity a...

Re: Sandringham enhanced timetable
Running trains from Werribee and Williamstown to Sandringham ensures that these lines have no impacts on the operation of other lines. And hence the reliability of the network is increased, the capacity of the network is increased, the places people on the Sandringham can travel without transferrin...

Re: High Capacity Buses
I was just interested in views on high capacity buses - artics and double decker vehicles. We've got both running in Victoria and I was curious as to the thoughts that people have on them - both from an operator and a customer perspective. I understand that articulated buses are more expensive to m...

Re: Transdev Melbourne news July - December 2016
It is a shame that the 550 was not tacked onto the end of the 251 when both routes were operated by Ventura. This would've provided a through LaTrobe Uni link via Northland along Victoria Rd, which would've further reduced the purpose of the 250. (251 to LaTrobe Uni was trialled during 1999 but did...

I see fare evasion every day, in some areas considered "povo" like Sunshine and Footscray, and I can tell you that I've never had anyone, student or otherwise, ask me politely for a free ride because they can't afford a Myki. No what I see are people who think they are entitled to everyth...

So if they can't do their shopping & other errands within 90 mins, they've had their fare doubled, on a route that runs every half-hour. There would be harsher examples where buses only run every hour. These are the people who may be considering an alternative option now, not those travelling t...

Re: Bus growth stuck in the slow lane as patronage takes a d
The two-hour fare being capped at exactly two-hours would have only had minimal impact - but not for those who travel on a bus to the station to connect with the train into town (as in your example) - in most cases the trip would be long enough that they return home on a daily cap anyway. What it m...

This what I said back in 2014/15: The fare rules has make travelling via the bus to the railway station unappealing and which lead to more people like myself driving to the station. In fact, I am driving to the inner station like Clifton Hill and catching the train to the city or at worst driving t...

Do you know what the on-the-spot penalties are?
The fine for these offences is two penalty units. Payment of the fine will not be seen as admission of guilt and no conviction will be recorded. - one penalty point is around $151

Yeah another example of more c**ts cheating the system and whinging about it when they get caught. What's the penalty for shoplifting?
