Re: Private Observations - September 2017

I'd say it is North Sydney Bus Charters given that their depot is right next door - can't get the rego but it is an ex STA O305 Mk IV. Dashcam footage from https://www.facebook.com/DashCamOwnersAustralia/videos/1552263694833265 appears to show that the bus driver floors it out of the depot, overcorr...

Re: Rail Observations December 2016

Having also been at Wynyard on a day like today (luckily I was stuck at work so I missed all of it) I've found that they restrict the number of people in the station by preventing them from going in. This seems to be done using a combination of barriers to restrict people from heading up/downstairs ...

Re: Rail observations October 2016

Hazard reduction burns. Rather curious as to why they've had to stop trains - there's a contraflow in place for cars next to the train line.

That's rather insensitive and selfish.

I'd say the real concern would be for vandals, drunken and drugged up idiots.

Re: Wynyard Station Upgrade

Only a few temporary fences left on the station side of the walk, and a bit of a general clean up, then it should be all good to go. I expect it to be open by the end of the week. Had a peer through the fencing in the station and the tunnel looks pretty much complete. Same thing, general clean up an...

Re: Wynyard Station Upgrade

Most of the hoardings inside the station were removed this morning with temporary fencing taking its place. A whole bunch of new gates that were being programmed in the morning were also opened up for the afternoon peak while the remaining paper ticket gates were shut. I presume these will be replac...

Re: The telecommunications discussion thread

I've found that many of the dual-sim devices only support a limited number of bands on the secondary SIM. E.g. you can use 4G LTE on the first SIM, but the second SIM would be limited to 2G/3G networks. Just bear that in mind when choosing a phone.

Re: Rail Observations - May 2016

So the City Circle Trackwork (and there's seemingly some sort of of obsession with shutting down trains via Town Hall) continues well into May over the next couple of weeks as well. I'm sorry, no offence but what is it that you're doing that is so important to disrupt the rest of us? Is the entire ...

I find the best solution install Mobitec flip dot destos or white led destos on the front and middle of each carriages at eye level. Why haven't they decided to change the destos to brand new equipment on the older sets makes no sense. Since STA have been recently replacing the older Alcatel desto ...

I'm using the (paid) windows version, if that might have anything to do with it. Re: Photography Rules/Laws

What type of camera did you take this photo using? If you're using a phone, tap on the screen on one of the buses so it locks the auto-focus, before you press the shutter button. On a real camera, the shutter button usually is a two-step button, which means that if you press it halfway, it will focu...

Re: *Opal Card INFRASTRUCTURE roll-out progress ONLY*

If you enroll at Uni then drop out in Wk2 to go into full time work, should you have concession for the rest of the year? I have seen people have their concession eligibility revoked by email when the uni reports that they are no longer a full time student, so their concession Opal becomes disabled...

Well it's not like that even matters anymore in most stations - it'll most likely be 8 anyway, particularly at Mount Kuring-gai.
