Re: North & Western Bus Lines remnants

Seeing those signs reminds me of the time not long after I started at Deanes Coaches / Clipper Tours when I was chatting with Ron Smith. He mentioned there were similar signs on the then route 54 with Barnes Coaches as the operator. So armed with a several new generic Bus Stop signs I replaced all t...

Re: Sydney Metro Corporate plan 2019

If the UTS Station at West Lindfield were built it was going to be 140 metres below ground. I see that the revised North Sydney Station is 31 metres below ground level. Are there any stations anywhere near 140 metres below ground ?

Re: Sydney Metro Corporate plan 2019

I attended at the CIT presentation by the head of the construction of the ECRL while it was being planned / built. He was disappointed that the above ground crossing at Lane Cove was abandoned, what he did say was that as a result with the line going so far underground to go under the river the requ...

Re: Bosnjak JBJ mo5115

The JBJ was displayed at the annual bus show (then at Fairfield Showground). I remember watching the demonstration of the motor idling whilst a 2c coin (remember them ?) was balanced on its edge and did not fall over. I recall being told the JBJs were fitted with a light on the dashboard so that the...

A Sydney metropolitan company that I worked for from 1976 to 1981 did look after their vehicles pretty well. One inspection time the DMT inspector did not turn up on the appointed day, we thought nothing of it (maybe he was sick ?). The district office rang about a week later querying the inspection...

Parson sold out to King Bros in 2000. Post that sale I saw the Bedford on display (from a local historical group) at Timbertown at Wauchope on a couple of visits there. Then it became the Krispy Kreme bus on the Great Western Highway (where Bunnings is now located).

The transplanted timber framed body on m/o 4898 obviously reached the end of its life as this chassis was rebodied in 1974.
